Title

Problem Scenario

The relevance to this project is to see which position people perform better in.

Broad Question

does sitting position effect performance in a task.

Specific Question

Does sitting position effect performance in a task? The three task are a maze a puzzle and a video game (Black ops 2).

Hypothesis

Sitting down will have most positive results out of the three positions.

Variables

Independent Variable:

Sitting position.

Dependent Variable:

performance.

Variables That Need To Be Controlled:

Time,Location,Distraction.

Vocabulary List That Needs Explanation

General Plan

The plan is to set up 3 trials per challenge 3 different puzzles, mazes, and online games. each game will be judged in time except for the online game (Black ops II) will be judged in experience points earned per game. Each trial will be performed in three different sitting position laying down sitting down and sitting cross legged. Five people will do each of these.

Potential Problems And Solutions

Some potential problems are distraction if someone or something distracts someone they may not perform as well.

Safety Or Environmental Concerns

There are no safety or environmental concerns that i feel are major.

Experimental Design

Controlled, manipulated experiment

What is your experimental unit?

Number Of Trials:

45 trials 3 of each task spread across 5 people

Number Of Subjects In Each trial:

five

Number of Observations:

1 per trial

When data will be collected

before the end of February

Where will data be collected?:

my attic

Conclusion

Does sitting position effect performance in a task? The conclusion is that sitting up has the best results out of sitting up slouching and laying down. This is proven by the data by sitting down being best slouching second best and laying down was worst.

Discussion

The experiment was conducted in three positions on three different task with five different test subjects over the course of one day each person completed each task in ever position and it was recorded in a random order by time and experience earned. The trend in the data was that sitting down was the best slouching was in the middle and laying down came in last. The experiment did not have any errors and the main question was solved by com pleating the experiment. The experiment could have been improved upon by completing the experiment with more subjects to show the data more accurate.

Benefit to Community and/or Science

The benefit to the community from this project is to see in which way people work the most efficiently. This could be benefited by desk jobs or other jobs of that type.

Abstract

This project was completed to see which position you sit in effects the performance the most. The experiment was completed by sitting in different positions then completing various task in a random order. After completion of these task the results were that sitting up is the most proficient sitting position slouching was second a well in last was laying down.
